Dear Families in the Middle,

Our Hudson Middle School students and families, with the coordination of Student Council and Advisors Jaclyn Smith and Nicole Anthony, raised $1200 for Pennies for Patients, a program of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thank you to all who contributed!

Walking Wednesdays
Thanks to the initiative of our HMS Health & Wellness Team, we've started Walking Wednesdays. Students have the option to walk our track from 7:15 - 7:30 every Wednesday morning. It's a great way to give everyone a break from devices and get energized for the day!

CHROMEBOOK collection:
Please make sure your student turns in the Chromebook and charger. An invoice will be sent to parents for any unreturned equipment. New Chromebooks will be issued to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in the fall. Thank you!

Please consider visiting Kye Bartlett's Caring Bridge site. Kye is an 8th grader here at Hudson Middle School who had open heart surgery last Saturday (May 21). He is recovering and wishes he could come back to school. We're hopeful to see him at the Fare-Thee-Well.

Our neighbor, Prairie Elementary, is anticipating a special event this summer (June 24) to surprise Mrs. Klanderman, a first grade teacher, diagnosed with fourth stage melanoma in her lung.

I am reminded of a sign on Ms. Blakeley's, one of our counselors, door: Everyone you meet is fighting a battle we know nothing about. Be kind. Always.

We will continue to share Middle Musings blog posts throughout the summer to help families learn new information, anticipate changes and opportunities, and prepare for the upcoming school year.

2016 - 2017 SEASON

Start of Season/Important Dates
PRACTICES BEFORE 1st DAY OF SCHOOL
Monday, August 29th   - Equipment Handout/1st day of practice (helmets only) at 3:30 to 5:30
August 30th  – 2nd day of practice (helmets only)  3:30 to 5:30
NO PRACTICE Wednesday, August 31st  – NO practice

ONCE SCHOOL STARTS
No Wednesday practices or games starts (we meet on M, T, Th, F)
3:00 – 4:45 promptly pick up by 5:00
Friday, September 9th – Last day to register for football
Probable first game Tuesday, September 13th 

FORMS AND ATHLETIC FEES

Cannot check out equipment until all forms are in

VOLLEYBALL 2016 - 2017
7TH & 8TH GRADE GIRLS

Girls interested in playing volleyball next fall:
Incoming 7th graders-Your first day of practice will be Thursday, Sept. 1 immediately after school. Please wear your uniform or bring $35 to purchase one. You also must have all athletic forms turned in and the athletic registration fee paid before you can practice. This will all be done at registration.

Incoming 8th graders-You will have a 3-day pre-season tryout. This will take place on Monday, August 29, Tuesday, August 30, and Wednesday, August 31 from 3:30-5:00pm in the HMS gym. Please wear your uniform or bring $35 to purchase one. You also must have all athletic forms turned in and the athletic registration fee paid before you can practice. This will all be done at registration.

ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING HOME GAMES MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT

To sign up for a sport students must complete the following and turn in to the Middle School Office before first practice dates: Forms for Fall sports will be accepted for the 2016-2017 school year during Registration in August

  • Registration Form
  • Physical card or alternate year card
  • Participation fee $30 per sport
All three items must come in as a package.  If the forms and fee are not in by first practice you will not be allowed to participate.  For additional information pertaining to individual sports, please refer to the "Athletics & Clubs" drop down menu above.
